I don’t really have anything exciting to post about Salisbury. It’s a nice city to visit with an eclectic shopping area and lots of cafes. I didn’t manage to do anything stupid or witty apart from limp around on my still swollen ankle. The cathedral is well worth a visit if you’re into that kind of thing or just want to marvel at the architecture like me but don’t be fooled as they herd you in like cattle and make it appear like you have to pay an admission fee. You don’t, they have a board up which I think is to mislead foreigners into coughing up the suggested ‘donation’ of £5.50. If like me you think the Church has more money than it knows what to do with you just march through giving the guy behind the desk a withering look if need be and then decide when you’ve looked around if it’s worthy of your cash. There was a fantastic exhibition of sculptures by Sean Henry – mainly small figures scattered around the interior. It’s on until the 31st of October and well worth a look. The cathedral was also pretty splendid.
