Chitty Chitty Bang Bang we love you

I finally made it into Rothenberg ob der Tauber in the campsite bus – bargain 5 euros as it was just me and the driver who did think he was Michael Schumacher. Anyway, for those un-cultured amongst you this is where they filmed the Bavarian village scenes in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. It was a delightful town of old fashioned wattle and daub houses – right up my street – and cobbled streets. It was full of Japanese and American tourists (no I didn’t snog the face off any of them). Lots of quaint shops, lots of xmas shops (be afraid – I bought something for our tree), 2 teddy bear shops ( I had sneaky cuddles) a bizarre amount of shops stinking of incense – bit like a hippy boudoir and strange cakes called Schneeballen (snowballs) which are strips of pastry mixed with egg and cream, deep fried and then covered in various flavourings !

Yum yum

I spent a lovely day photographing anything that didn’t move and saw my 1st group of German beer swigging Chavs. I didn’t however see the Childcatcher. Maybe it was his day off.

About travellingninjas3

Scarlet haired veggie/coeliac/tattooed/charity shop loving rebel sold everything to take to the road with 3 Yorkies in a campervan to discover the meaning of life & blog about it. It all went well for 18 months but then a flippin bloke walked into my life and turned it upside down so now the travelling has come to a halt but I still live in the van but in a field - marvellous :o)
