Lycra as far as the eye can see

Well I had my doubts as the Beast rattled up a dirt track to Camping Holsteenbron in Zonhoven but I think we may have found a little gem here. We are situated in the heart of Park Midden Limburg which is basically a National Park. There is a laundry (faints with excitement) and a bar/cafe/restaurant. The owner is a dear man who doesn’t speak a word of English and from what I gather they get lots of french/germans/dutch here but never english!  We are right at the start of 1600km of cycling routes through the park so the cafe is popular with lycra clad men – in fact I’ve never had to avert my eyes so much there are that many of them in spray on shorts. It really is quite bizarre as was the horse tied up outside the cafe ‘corral style’. The dog walking possibilities are endless (better than a crappy car park) and it has free  internet connection which is always a winner with saddo’s like me.  Me and the pooches went for a wak and look at what was gathered outside the gates for a swift drink….

A spot in the sun

Thanks to Google Translate – which is probably ropey and gives you a random translation, I have tried out my dodgy dutch on the site owner as I needed to purchase shower and washing machine tokens. Whaddya know I came away with 2 of each plus 4 washing powder tabs so I must have made some sense. I do feel like a bit of an oddity here for a) being English  b) being younger than 50 and c) being on my own but I’m guessing I’ll get that in a lot of places. What is it that KT Tunstall sings ? ‘Still a weirdo after all these years’ – motorhoming isn’t going to change that which reminds me I must dye my hair purple, I’m fed up of looking like an albino bimbo.

About travellingninjas3

Scarlet haired veggie/coeliac/tattooed/charity shop loving rebel sold everything to take to the road with 3 Yorkies in a campervan to discover the meaning of life & blog about it. It all went well for 18 months but then a flippin bloke walked into my life and turned it upside down so now the travelling has come to a halt but I still live in the van but in a field - marvellous :o)
