The green eyed monster

Staying here and on the site in Folkestone I have seen all manner of motorhome come and go – some very flash and some downright bizarre.  I have to admit to occasional ‘van envy’ when some of the newer vans pull up and they’re all lovely and streamlined, shiny and new and then I look at The Beast with a frontage that only a mother could love but I love her cos she’s all mine and she’s home.  It’s disappointing that some of the people driving these flash motors seem to have let it go to their heads and they only fraternize or acknowledge people with vans of a similar age as if it’s an exclusive club. It amuses me as there are enough characters who are happy to chat to me and to make a fuss of the dogs so it’s no loss. The people next to me are such a couple, we put the world to rights for 10 mins and discuss what sights we’ve seen and where we’re off to next. He’s made me feel a lot better as his brand new van has been a pain in the arse since he bought it – his words not mine, and they don’t build them like they used to. His list of gripes makes my cruddy non functioning water heater pale into the background and hey I can boil a kettle to wash up so who cares.  Envy can be healthy as long as you’re still happy with your lot and I’m nothing to look at so who am I to criticise how my van looks.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

About travellingninjas3

Scarlet haired veggie/coeliac/tattooed/charity shop loving rebel sold everything to take to the road with 3 Yorkies in a campervan to discover the meaning of life & blog about it. It all went well for 18 months but then a flippin bloke walked into my life and turned it upside down so now the travelling has come to a halt but I still live in the van but in a field - marvellous :o)
